創作理念(Philosophy

游於藝
 「志於道、據於德、依於仁、游於藝」……,能如魚得水般的悠游在藝術領域中,是幸福,更是努力的目標。
 一直希望能藉著畫筆來詮釋眼中的世界,在創作的過程中,我不斷嘗試使用各種方式,來表達自己心中的想法。「寫實」,在我的作品中是主要的表現方式,以此為主軸來發展不同的創作方向。譬如:虛實收放的強調與掌握、視點上的變化以及合理性的突破。

 對於一個以寫實為主要表現方式的創作者而言,很容易拘泥於繁複的細節或描繪的技巧,而使作品流於呆板、俗氣,令「寫實」變成「寫死」,事倍功半,甚為可惜。俄國文學家
扥爾斯泰說的好:「畫家是個能畫能塗的人。」所謂「能畫」,指的是描繪的能力,是畫家形而下的功夫;所謂「能塗」,則指技巧的昇華,是畫家形而上的精神內涵。二者看似對立,實則相輔相乘。然而,如何將虛實收放在畫面上掌握得恰到好處,仍是個人不斷研究的課題。

 除了虛實收放之外,我亦改變以往習慣的表達方式,嘗試以誇張的視點及突破畫面元素的合理性來營造特殊的氣氛。例如:「自畫像系列」中,我採取由正上方向下看的視點來作畫,感覺就像自己的靈魂脫離枷鎖般的軀殼來自我檢視一般。同樣的方式運用在許多靜物作品上,往往可以再平凡無奇的對象中創造令人驚異的效果。

 我的作品構成元素簡單、自然,從日常生活中取材,並加上個人主觀情感的表達;我努力在陳舊中發覺新意,於平凡中表現美感。作品中沒有深奧的人生哲理,或直指人性的病態現象,也不以一味的求新求變來譁眾取寵,或用充滿震撼力、侵略性的表現方式來給人當頭棒喝。我專注於畫面的溫馨感人,觸動人心。不斷在平凡無奇的題材中尋找發揮表現的廣度和深度,創造動人心弦的力量,使藝術生命得以久遠。

Searching Joy and Enjoyment in The Art
“Searching Joy and Enjoyment in The Art.”It has been my constant wish and happiness to immerse myself in art. It is also a goal that Ihave been after.

By using the paintbrush, I always wish to interpret what I see. During the course of my creation, by using different way I try the best I can to express my ideas. “Realism”is the core of my works. With it, my different approaches for creations are developed. For example, the emphasis and grasp of falsehood and reality, the changes on sight spots and the departure from reasonableness.

For an artist of realism, he tendsto be bound to details or skills of painting which would eventually kill his artworks. Tolstoy, the Russian litterateur, made a good remark on this respect. He said that a painting is one who can paint and scribble. Actually he meant the ability to paint is the painting skill which is concrete, and the ability to scribble is the sublimation of his skill which is metaphysical and from which the essence of his works comes into being. It seems that both stand against each other. Actually, they co-exist nicely. However, it has been my constant focus to finely grasp the mystery that lies in between falsehood and reality on my works.

Besides, by using exaggerated sight spot and departing from reasonableness of screen element Ihave changed my customary way of expression to create a special atmosphere. For instance, the series of “self-portrait”are painted by looking down from above. Such a sight spot puts me in a position where I feel my soul is unleashed from my body enabling me to take a look at myself. By applying the same way to numerous still lives, I find that an amazing effect can be created and achieved on even an ordinary object.

My works are simple and natural. Daily life is the theme of my artworks which mainly are in the form of scenery and still life. My personal subjective feelings add another touch to them. Materials of the sort have been long regarded as commonplace, nothing new and rigid. Still, I make efforts to discover life and exhibit the beauty from the ordinary. You do not find from my works the profound philosophy of life or any criticism about morbid human natures. I do not try to be fanciful to stand out of the crowd or use riveting and aggressive approaches to deal a blow upon someone. My works are there to touch your heart and give you warmth for life. I am committed to creating arts out of the ordinary.
